Underworld Announce Spring 2016 Tour Dates

Since 2010 the group Underworld has not toured America, but just announced via Consequence of Sound, the British electronic duo are coming back to the US with several shows lineup for April. The shows, which are scheduled around the band’s confirmed festival appearance at Coachella, include stops at New York’s Terminal 5 and Oakland’s Fox Theatre. Aside from a one-off gig at the Hollywood Bowl last year, the pair have not been back to North America in almost six years. The additional gigs are part of a much larger spring tour that also features a European leg, and come in support of Underworld’s forthcoming album Barbara Barbara, we face a shining future, due out on March 18th through Astralwerks.

Formed in 1980 in Cardiff by main frontmen Karl Hyde and Rick Smith, Underworld has been part of the electronic scene for nearly 35 years, and has gone through several rotating members before reaching where they are today. Getting influences from so many different genres, the ever changing band has created five studio albums and have gotten to be known for visual style and dynamic live performances.  Underworld have influenced a wide range of artists and been featured in soundtracks and scores for films, television, and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but have not produced anything of their own since the release of the album Barking in September of 2010.

2016 looks to be a very different year for them, announcing their new LP Barbra Barbra,We Face Shinning Future earlier in November, and releasing a music video to the track “I Exhale”, the veteran duo are taking the year by storm. The new tour dates show that this band is far from over, starting them off in Europe and taking them from there to around to US venues, where they have not played for quite a few years, with several stops at popular music festivals, fans can look forward to seeing the electronic pair playing at a venue near them.
