An 82 year old artist, singer, and activist, Yoko Ono is anything but retired. The renaissance woman has built a prolific career over the years, beginning as an activist with the late John Lennon. She began her music career in the 1970’s her then-husband, but encountered her biggest success in 1980’s with the Grammy-winning Double Fantasy.
Ono has achieved much since her heyday, but perhaps what is most impressive about her career is her continued ambition. The singer plans to release an album of collaborative remixes with an impressive class of musicians including Moby, Death Cab for Cutie, tUnE-yArDs,Peter Bjorn and John, Penguin Prison, Miike Snow, and Cibo Matto. The album, titled Yes, I’m A Witch is a sequel to 2007’s Yes I’m a Witch.
Ono has given us a sneak preview of the album, releasing opening single “Give Me Something.” The track put a new spin on the 1980’s single and includes glam group Sparks. It was released in 2010, but is now resurfacing to be included in the upcoming LP. Additionally, Ono has released the cover art for I’m A Witch Too and can be viewed below.
According to Consequence of Sound, the album has been completed and will be released in vinyl, CD and digital format February 19th via Manimal. Hold yourelf over by listening to “Give Me Something” below via Soundcloud.
