Belly revealed exciting news on their official site Monday that they will reunite later this year for a tour. No tour dates have been officially established, but the band did reveal the tour will begin in the summer in the UK.
Sources say, the tour will be a reunion including the band’s original lineup. The first stretch will take place in July and then North America in August and September. In addition, Belly mentioned on their website that they have a handful of new songs to release and perform as well.
“We’ve also got a handful of brand new Belly songs in various stages of writing and recording that we’ll be releasing one by one over the next few months,” Belly tells fans. “First previews will be right here on the website!”
Tanya Donelly, member of Throwing Muses and the Breeders, formed Belly in 1991 with Fred Abong, Thomas Gorman and Chris Gorman. Belly released two albums: Star in 1993 and King in 1995. After releasing Star, Abong left the band and was replaced by Gail Greenwood. The band released one album with Greenwood, King, before breaking up the next year.
After the breakup, Greenwood went on to play bass in L7. Donelly pursued a solo career and released four albums.
