WATCH: Lana Del Rey And Father John Misty Release New Video For “Freak”

Lana Del Rey released the video for her song “Freak” off her album, Honeymoon, last night. The video stars Josh Tillman, aka Father John Misty, where the two take acid together and hallucinate.

Following a screening in Los Angeles, Del Rey revealed the inspiration of the video.

“I had so much fun making this video inspired by his acid trip that he took in Topanga,” Del Rey explained, quickly adding, “Well that’s his story.” Turns out that story was was only partially true. “I took acid at a Taylor Swift concert,” Tillman responded. “I thought this was the best time to tell you.”

Del Rey’s “Freak” video is the byproduct of Tillman taking acid at a Taylor Swift concert in Australia.

The video itself was directed by Del Rey. The video has a very nostalgic feel to it. As Father John Misty walks behind her in an opening shot, you’re almost fooled into thinking it’s “archival footage from the late ’60’s,” as Stereogum writes.

The video is about 11 minutes long, and after a while, Lana’s music is replaced by Claude Debussy’s “Clair de Lune.”
