The National are finally going on tour this summer, and they will be appearing at various venues across the U.S, New Zealand, Australia, and Europe. They will headline many festivals during the tour. The National will also headline a benefit show at MASS MoCA in Massachusetts this June, and play at the Red Rocks with Real Estate in July. The band does not have official plans to release an album this year, though frontman Matt Berninger commented saying that the band will debut some songs live as they would like to play them live before recording them. Fans do not want to miss this tour.
In addition to all of this, members of the band (Scott and Bryan Devendorf) have actually started a new band with Ben Laz from the American indie-rock band Beirut. The band is called LNZNDRF and they plan to release their debut, self-titled album on February 19th. If The National is, in fact, working on a new album, it will be their seventh studio album, their first since their album Trouble Will Find Me that was released in 2013. The album was nominated for Best Alternative Album at the 2014 Grammys. In October of last year, The National debuted a new song called “Roman Candle” at a performance in Los Angeles. However, the song title was later changed to “Checking Out.” The American indie rock band has been around since 1999 with six studio albums to show for it. In 2013, they also contributed the song “Lean” to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie soundtrack.
