It’s only been a year and a half since their last release (Content Nausea LP), but American rock band Parquet Courts has announced a new album to be released in April of this year. The LP is called Human Performance and the band has released two tracks to stream in the meantime, “Dust” and “Outside.” The band first announced this album just a few days ago on Fordham University’s radio station, where they played these two new songs in anticipation. No mention of an album title or release date had been mentioned until now. Human Performance will be released on April 8th of this year through the record label Rough Trade – find the official video for “Dust” below.
Parquet Courts released the EP Monastic Living last November, and it was mainly full of instrumental and experimental recordings (here’s a review of it). In addition, the band also released a live album, Live At Third Man Records, last year, shortly after the release of Monastic Living. The live album was recorded at Jack White’s recording studio. The band will also be playing a few live shows in the UK this June. They will also appear at the festivals LEVITATION and Shaky Knees.
You may have heard of Parquet Courts, but by a different name. Parkay Quarts released an LP called Content Nausea in 2014, which included the single “Uncast Shadow of a Southern Myth.” However, this album was recorded only by band members Andrew Savage and Austin Brown – Sean Yeaton and Max Savage were unable to contribute to the album at the time. Yeaton was working on a degree in math, and Savage was focused on starting a family. The album was recorded in less than two weeks by Savage and Brown.
