Smashing Pumpkins @ Tower Theatre 4/8

Fans of 90’s rock music rejoice, because Smashing Pumpkins are headed our way for a tour with Liz Phair! And no, it’s not 1996. The band will be making a stop here on April 8th, playing The Tower. Tickets for this one are on sale now.

The upcoming spring tour is a follow up to the band’s successful acoustic tour last fall, which was dubbed “In Plainsong.” For this go around, the band will be performing “an evening of acoustic based music and electronic soundscapes.” The dates will also feature the band’s founding drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin, who rejoined the group last year. He was part of their tour with Marilyn Manson, which marked his first appearance with the band since 2009.

Speaking on this, Chamberlin said, “It’s a great opportunity not only to celebrate the music, but to celebrate the friendship and the legacy.” It’ll be exciting to see the old gang back together for their upcoming spring tour. There is also word of an album in the works, to be released following the tour. This will be their follow up to 2014’s Monuments to an Elegy. But no additional details have yet been released on that, so definitely stay tuned for more info.

Opening the show will be Liz Phair, who will be celebrating her first US tour in six years.
