NOS Primavera Sound Festival has just released their 2016 lineup featuring PJ Harvey, Savages and Brian Wilson to name a few.

The NOS Primavera Sound Festival has been a running annual music festival since 2012 and is the sister festival to Barcelona’s Primavera Sound located in Catalonia, which is one of the largest music festivals in Spain. NOS Primavera is located in Porto, Portugal with in Parque da Cidade, kist 6 km northwest of the center of Porto. The festival is held on June 09-June 11 of this year, right after Barcelona wraps up its leg.

Coming up on the festival’s 4th year, NOS Primavera has a few acts to compete with its huge big sister festival. With their top billers being the likes of Sigur Ros, PJ Harvey and Air the Porto leg is in for treat. Followed by bands like Savages, Beach House, Deerhunter, Julia Holter and Wild Nothing to also join the headliners. While these names are still no Radio Head or LCD Soundsystem like the Barcelona fest will see there is still a whole lot of talent to be seen here.

Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys will also be making an appearance to the Porto version of Primavera as well as the original Barcelona lineup. He has a specification next to his name of performing Pet Sounds in its entirety. Pet Sounds was the 11th studio album from the Beach Boys and for any fan of classic 60s Beach Boys sound this will be a treat.

Among the other unique names that can be seen at NOS Primavera are Drive Like Jehu. One of the most influential post-hardcore bands seem to be taking a break from extracurricular activated, such as the popular pasty shop Donut Friend to Los Angeles, to get back together earlier this year. Even through the bands history of breaks ups and long hiatuses from any press time they have been a major influence to several major acts today, such as Modest Mouse’s lead singer who has called them his favorite band of all time, and should be a huge treat for festival goers.

Tickets started at 75 Euros which is about 84 U.S. dollars as the first installment of ticket sales but, unfortunately, those are sold out. The next price available is 90 euros, which is about 101 U.S. dollars both of which are substantially less expensive than the Barcelona Primavera Festival’s prices. All prices listed are for GA, for more ticketing information view here. A full list of the festivals lineup and the official festival lineup announcement video can be found below.

Ryan Fricke: Music is my therapy, which I could not function without. I am currently finishing my senior year a Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida with a Journalism major and a Creative Writing Minor. I first realized I wanted to become a Music Journalist the minute I learned that I could get paid to do the two things I love most, writing and listening to music. I have yet to decide which I am more infatuated with but for the time being I will happily house them to their stalemate. My plans after graduation are unclear but I hope to further gain experience in this profession.
