Longitude Announces 2016 Lineup Featuring Kendrick Lamar, The National And Major Lazer

The Longitude festival returns to Marlay Park for three days of incredible music from stellar artists including Kendrick Lamar, The National And Major Lazer, according to the official festival website which also states:

In just three short years Longitude has cemented itself as one of the premier events of the summer festival season winning the award for Best Medium Sized Festival at the Irish Festival Awards.

The Longitude festival launches on Friday, July 15 with headliner Kendrick Lamar. On Saturday, July 16th, the electronic music group Major Lazer leads the line up and sets the stage for the Cincinnati-based indie rock band The National to close the festival on July 17th.

The headliners are also joined by the Dublin synth pop duo All Tvvins, rapper Rejjie Snow, punk quartet Otherkin, dream pop band Pleasure Beach and athmosfolk pairing Saint Sister. More acts will be announced soon.

Grammy award winning rapper Kendrick Lamar will headline the festival’s opening night on July 15. His critically acclaimed album `To Pimp A Butterfly’ not only debuted on top of the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, but champions Spotify’s global first day streaming record with 9.6 million. Lamar’s 11 nominations for the 2016 year’s Grammy Awards include Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Rap Album.

Major Lazer’s global smash hit ‘Lean On’ was recently named the most streamed song of all time and was viewed over a billion times on YouTube. The electronic band, created by record producers Diplo and Switch, recently unleashed new video for “Be Together” featuring Wild Belle and a music video for “Too Original” featuring Elliphant and Jovi Rockwell.

Matt Berninger, Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner, Scott Devendorf and Bryan Devendorf of the National close the festival with the critical and commercial success of their latest album ‘Trouble Will Find Me’ and twenty-two month tour behind them.  Scott and Bryan Devendorf will launch a band called LNXNDRF with Ben Laz from Beirut, planning to release a self-titled album on February 19th.
