Back for it’s eighth consecutive year in Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal, Canada, Loudwire has announced that Heavy Montreal Music Festival has officially released its lineup for the heavy metal inspired musical extravaganza. Including many artists from the metal/rock spectrum, this massive scale 70,000 attendee event is looking to come back to decimate the two island location. With Five Finger Death Punch returning to the lineup, and Disturbed also making a long awaited comeback the festival organizers have made sure to round out the bill that will excite both returning festival goers, as well as new attendees that will surely be satisfied from this mammoth lineup of hard rock all stars.
After debuting this festival in 2008, this three-day festival has made its mark as one of the staple heavy rock festival destinations in North America. Formerly known as “Heavy MTL” it is one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world, with usually around 70,000 people attending each year, and each year the festival has lined up some of the most successful heavy metal acts of the time. Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Rob Zombie, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, Slayer, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Slipknot and many more have graced the Montreal stages, performing to tens of thousands of fans and creating controlled havoc to the two islands on which the festival is held.
This year looks to be no different from the rest, bringing back popular bands that are all too familiar with the event such as Disturbed (who performed at the inaugural year of the festival and came back few times) and Five Finger Death Punch (who headlined the festival twice in the last five years), also returning to the festival after several years is the metalcore band Killswitch Engage and Atlanta based metal band Mastodon, looking to captivate audiences again with strong guitar rifts and heavy drumming that will result in the rowdiest of mosh pits. The festival has also added several bands who have yet to rock out the unparalleled setting that this event provides such as Breaking Benjamin, Ghost, Suffocation, and Nightswitch who will make history by performing the band’s full European-style show for just the second time in North America.
The Festival will take place during Aug. 6th-7th.
Weekend passes are set to go on sale Feb. 5 at noon ET. Tickets for the full weekend will retail for $149.50, but until Feb. 4 at 10AM ET, pre-sale passes will only set fans back $99.50. After the initial pre-sale, weekend passes will cost $120 on Feb. 4 from 10AM – 10PM ET, so festival goers have two opportunities to save money.
Special GOLD passes will also be available for $275. These will give you access to a reserved premium viewing area near the main stage, private washrooms and exclusive food and beverage stands.
