Smashing Pumpkins Announce Spring 2016 Tour Dates With Liz Phair

It’s a good day to be a nostalgic early 90’s indie music fan. According to SPIN, The Smashing Pumpkins have announced the continuation of their acoustic “In Plainsong” tour across the U.S., this time with opening act Liz Phair. The tour will begin March 22 in Portland, OR.

Far from retired, the band spent a busy 2015 touring with fellow 90’s act Marilyn Manson, and continuously releasing new music and videos. A return of the Pumpkin’s heyday sound – including electro-acoustics, drummer Jimmy Chamerlin, and collaboration with 90’s rock peers – has elicited a sense of nostalgia among fans and consequently drawn greater interest to Corgan & Co.’s recent endeavors.  The band will hit the studios following the tour, promising the release of new music.

The tour marks a return for opening act Liz Phair, who has been laying low these days. The singer-songwriter has not released music or toured in 6 years.

Tickets are now available for pre-sale. Check out the itinerary below for tour dates and locations.

UPDATE: Smashing Pumpkins add more dates. They have extended their April 4 stopover in New York to 3 days (April 4-6) at the Beacon theatre. Tickets go on sale Friday (2/12) but can be purchased via Brooklyn Vegan presale tomorrow (2/11) at 10 AM. See updated tour dates below.

UPDATE Tuesday, March 16th: Corgan has added dates to the tour in April and May. According to a press release, Smashing Pumpkins will release “new material” following the tour. No further details were provided.
