Wake up on the morning of April 3rd, 2015 and the Baltimore indie band Lower Dens finds a surprise. The band discovers that Pitchfork music rated them Best New Music for their third album Escape From Evil. The record takes a bold step forward, sounding more mature than their two previous Twin Hand Movement and Nootropics. Lower Dens embrace indie-pop with a warm hug in their new album. Compared to the preceding lo-fi, chillout records, Escape From Evil is more radio-friendly and, honestly, just more fun to listen to.
The band had an epic beginning opening up in 2013 for Beach House and Yo La Tengo but tonight they’re opening for Unknown Mortal Orchestra at the Fillmore. Any great band needs to be pushed outside their comfort zone and Lower Dens have successfully accomplished that on their new record and everyone needs to give it a proper listen. Linked below is their trending song To Die in LA with an impressive music video. Don’t miss Lower Dens at the Independent in March before they go too mainstream.
