Norwegian composer John Kaada and musical jack-of-all-trades Mike Patton are teaming up once again for Bacteria Cult, the pair’s first LP together in over a decade. The pair previously collaborated on the eerily dissonant Romances in 2004 and released Kaada/Patton Live DVD in 2007.
Since their last record, Kaada has released several solo albums, including 2006’s Music for Moviebikers, 2009’s Junkyard Nostalgia, and 2012’s Kaada And The Late Bloomers in Concert. Patton has become an artistic renaissance man; his jobs over the past decade include acting, composing soundtracks to films, providing voiceovers in video games, leading supergroup Stream Tomahawk, reuniting Faith No More, and performing operatic and orchesral roles.
It seems the Faith No More singer is returning to his experimental music roots. “We wanted to try new things,” states Kaada. “Fully utilizing new technologies, combined with a large orchestra, while putting more attention towards melody and structure.”
Bacteria Cult will be released April 1.
