Sia Releases New Song “Broken Glass”

Sia’s newest song “Broken Glass” was debuted on the Zane Lowe’s Apple Music show World Record. “Broken Glass” is the newest single from her This Is Acting album, which was released yesterday. But this single has a much slower tune to the entire song despite the other singles the artist released from this new album.

The entire album is about rejected songs by artists such as Rihanna, Beyonce and Adele, that Sia records and performs. In a Rolling Stone interview, Furler has been writing songs for A-list artists ranging from Adele to Beyoncé, she crossed over to writing pop music of her own. Before the “Broken Glass” single, she had some songs for Rhianna for her album, Anti, which debuted Wednesday night. “Reaper” was co-written by Kayne West.

This ballad, as one may call it, is about a faltered relationship the musician had, but it also states the desire to never give up. By the time the chorus rolls around it is a power ballad about the strength and the desire to keep something going when it seems to be floating away like clouds in the sky. Relationships are never easy and are tricky to manage. There are often those relationships in which they are constantly breaking up and then getting back together, that often don’t stand the test of time. Every relationship has its story, sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s bad, and sometimes it feels like you want to hurt each other as much as you can. But from this single, the relationship seems stuck in its place, not being able to move beyond the point. In these relationships, there are days when each person can move and continue going forward, other days it’s a two steps forward and one step back ordeal. Being stuck doesn’t mean its over, there’s just an obstacle in the way and eventually the problem will be solved and the relationship moves on.

Sia will make a live appearance at Coachella with Guns N’ Roses, LCD Soundsystem, Disclosure and Grimes this summer. This May, Sia wil be performing at Boston Calling and then make a string of dates across Europe in August of this year. Sia will appear on the newest Kayne West album Waves. Both Sia and West collaborated with Vic Mensa on the “Wolves” single that was performed on the SNL 40 television special and a fashion show last year. An offical date for the single has yet to be mentioned.
