Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros Announce New Album PersonA For April 2016 Release

Being once again on the receiving end of critical acclaim from their most recent song release “Hot Coals”, the 10-piece euphorically confrontational band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have announced today that they will be releasing their highly anticipated fourth album PersonA, via Community Music records,  to the public and continuing to solidify their permanent spot in the music scene. This new LP showcases 10 unique tracks that were recorded in a distinct way that not many artists choose to record today, and is set to drop on April 15th. The band has also decided to release today a single from the album “No Love Like Yours” for fans to preview and feed off of until the album hits stores.

Beginning in 2007 Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros was a revolving door of band members coming in and out of the group. Lead by vocalist Alex Ebert, the Los Angeles native and Golden Globe winner for Best Original Score, the band has solidified their spot in the indie folk psychedelic rock scene. The band’s sound evokes memories of 1960’s and 1970’s hippie movement, and had first come on to the scene from their first performance at The Troubador in West Hollywood circa 2007, but it was not until two years later where the band had released their first studio album Up From Below, which contained the ever so popular single “Home”. After that they began hitting the country on a large scale with full tours and big festival runs, it was not until 2 years later in late May of 2012 where the group released the second studio album “Here”, and only a year later they released their third and most recent self-titled LP Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros which was also followed by a massive national as well as international tour.

Frontman Ebert says that the evolution of the band has been natural “we had long been a social experiment first, musicians second.  Over time, though, we were emerging, by virtue of hours spent, into a group of musicians who could really play together.” This is clearly evident in the way in which they have decided to record the new album. Recording the music almost entirely in one room together in New Orleans, without studio tricks like click tracks, digitally doubling of voices or other manipulations, the ten tracks are clearly influenced by the jazz-saturated sound of that city, their approach was a far cry from the ramshackle, come-one-come-all production audible on recordings of their previous albums.

“If [Hot Coals] is a sign of what’s to come from the Magnetic Zeros, this next chapter should make for an interesting read.”Consequence of Sound

The single that was released with the announcement “No Love Like Yours” further indicates that the ten gifted, original musicians in this ever-evolving group have reached a new height in terms of creativity and musicianship.

While being no strangers to the festival scene circuit with appearances at Firefly, Coachella, ACL, and plenty of others that can add to a long list of big names, the band will look to continue their touring very much into 2016, starting with Coachella which is one of their first spots they came on stage to perform for their fans and are looking to captivate once again. More dates will likely follow.
