La Sera has posted a video for their newest single, “High Notes.” The song, which was first released in early December, is taken from their forthcoming Polyvinyl release Music For Listening To Music To. Essentially a solo project from former Vivian Girls member Katy Goodman, the band has become known for specializing in simple, saccharine-sweet pop songs. For this latest record, Goodman is joined by her husband, guitarist and co-writer Todd Wisenbaker.
La Sera is not trying to break the mold with this single, fitting in well with Goodman’s earlier releases. The song is short and straightforward, relying on Goodman’s bass to guide the song and incorporating an ever-so-subtle country twang on the guitars. Goodman on the making of the video:
“We loved making this video! The concept was developed by Jason Lester, the director. It grew from a straight up 60s Buck Owens vibe video into a monster mash. We filmed it at a warehouse in downtown LA in August, and it was HOT. Like, over 100 degree hot. We had to dry our faces with towels between every shot because we were so sweaty. But it was all worth it, we love the video, and Jason did a great job!”
Goodman and Wisenbaker were joined by none other than Ryan Adams in the production of Music For Listening To Music To. La Sera’s fourth full length studio album is set to be released on March 4.
