This week Dead Heavens, the newest rock offshoot of Walter Schreifels’ music career, premiered their single “Feel Low” on Soundcloud through Thrill Me Records — one of two songs that will be featured on their new 7” to be released Feb. 12.
Their b-side track of “Feel Low” is a cover of Can’s hit, “I’m So Green” — a groovy yet high brow rendition of the original. Along with their new music, Dead Heavens has planned a small tour with Mrs Magician, playing one show in New Jersey and five in California starting Feb. 5. In the meantime, their 7″ is available for preorder for $7 here.
46 year-old Schreifels has been a member of seven bands prior to Dead Heavens, including Gorilla Biscuits, Quicksand, Rival Schools, Youth of Today, CIV, Walking Concert and Warzone — but who’s to say there isn’t a need for an eighth? The New York-based Dead Heavens made their grand debut last year with their first two-track 7”, “History in My Hands.” Apart from Schreifels, the rock band includes Paul Kostabi of White Zombie, Nathan Aguilar from Cults, and old bandmate Drew Thomas from Youth of Today.
