Lightning In A Bottle Announces 2016 Lineup Featuring Grimes, Chet Faker And Jamie XX

Alright folks, go to your calendars and mark your Memorial Day Weekend “busy”, because according to Billboard.com, earlier today the artist lineup for Lightning In A Bottle Festival was officially released to the public. With popular artists such as Chet Faker, Big Gigantic, Moderat, and less known rising acts such as Bleep Bloop, Space Jesus, and The Fungineers,  it looks like the 11 year old “transformational” yoga & music festival has once again pulled out all the stops into creating a bill that will attract fans of all parts of the electronic/folk music spectrum.

For 16 years Lightning in Bottle has graced the California coast with its presence, with eclectic music from all over the electronic spectrum to fascinate all tastes, early morning yoga sessions where thousands of people can participate in starting their day’s off stress free, and of course art exhibits from all over that can fascinate even the most novice of art audiences, LiB has had it all. The festival manages to consistently fuse quantity with quality by bringing artists who tend to always push the envelope when it comes to their craft. Whether it is old players on the scene or new up and comers, Lightning in a Bottle creates and environment that is the epitome to what festivals strive to be.

The Festival had first come up in the scene in 2000 where a group of people were creating a private birthday with the intent to celebrate nature and music. It escalated in following years to the point where in 2004, the creators (who have called themselves The Do-Lab) had to shift the classification from a private even to a public festival. The first official LiB was held at the Gold Creek Ranch in the Angeles National forest. It was then forced to take a one-year hiatus, to quickly be returned with full force in July 2006 at the Live Oak Camp in Santa Barbra until 2008. Due to the festival’s popularity The Do-Lab had to relocate the festival to a location better suited for such a large audience, and after taking another one-year hiatus the festival was revived and moved to Oak Canyon Ranch where they stayed for several years, introducing artist such as Pretty Lights, Opiuo, Bonobo, and other well-known artist of the electronic music scene of today. After the event moved once more to Lake Skinner in 2013, it was eventually landed at the San Antonio Reservoir Recreation Area where it still is held now, and still creates stellar lineups for the EDM fans with their three signature main stages; The Lightning stage, The Thunder Stage, and The Woogie stage.

This year there will be artists that returning attendees will recognize from past LiB’s, such as the Emancipator Ensemble, Cashmere Cat, and The Polish Ambassador who once played the smaller stages and were less known, now get to play on the main stages for everyone to experience. Also playing this year will be electronic acts that have never seen the LiB stages but seem to fit the scene perfectly, from Big Gigantic, who will bring their unique live Saxophone infused electronica to the Lightning stage, to G Jones showcasing his downtempo Dubstep playing back to back with Minnesota. This year’s Lightning in a Bottle, which will take place on May 25th through the 30th, looks like it will have something for everyone to enjoy.
