At 33 years old, Tera Wray Static was found dead of an apparent suicide. She was the wife of Wayne Static, the frontman and founder of STATIC-X, and a former adult film star. Wayne died in November of 2014 due to a fatal mixture of alcohol and prescription medication. No struggle or foul play was involved in his death. Even though his family admitted that Wayne struggled with alcohol abuse, the overdose did not seem to be suicidal in nature. His wife, Tera, found him dead when she woke up.
Tera had mentioned that she had been fighting depression for the past two years, ever since the death of her husband. However, a friend of hers had spent time with her the day before her apparent suicide and said Tera had shown no indication she was suicidal.
Tera and Wayne were known for their strong affection for each other. When they got married, Tera quit her job as an adult film star and chose to go on tour with Wayne instead. The two were always together – Tera would even do interviews with her husband, though she would usually just sit with him and not actually answer questions. Wayne even admitted that her being on tour with him partly contributed to the breakup of STATIC-X’s classic lineup, because the bass player Tony Campos seemed to have a problem with Tera being around all the time.
The American metal band STATIC-X released six albums over the course of their musical career. The band took a hiatus in 2011 so Wayne could work on his solo album, Pighammer. The band briefly reunited in 2012, only to officially break up in 2013, about a year before Wayne’s sudden death.
