Woods Announces New Album City Sun Eater in the River of Light For April 2016 Release Date And Release New Song “Sun City”

On April 8, folk-pop veterans Woods will release their ninth LP, City Sun Eater in the River of Light, on their own Woodsist label. In anticipation of the upcoming release, the band has also released the first single from the new album, entitled “Sun City Creeps.”

The new song showcases the band’s ability to experiment and evolve, featuring a wide variety of instruments and world music influences. In “Sun City Creeps,” Woods manage to effortlessly switch between mellow grooves and more energetic bursts, with a horn section helping to shift the tone of the song as necessary.

Despite having released eight albums previously, City Sun Eater in the River of Light is only the second album Woods has recorded in a proper studio. The band will also be touring in support of the album starting in April.

Woods has spent years refining their sound, and the polish emanates from every twist and turn of “Sun City Creeps.” Vocalist Jeremy Earl belts through the track with a new found confidence while maintaining his relaxed falsetto, and the band feels more comfortable and controlled than ever. After eight albums, Woods have proven they can still make new music worth checking out.
