LISTEN: Jeff Buckley Covers Dylan’s “Just Like A Woman”

Jeff Buckley may be dead, but he is still important in the music world. Sadly, the singer died in 1997 and the cause of death was drowning. But Jeff’s 1993 cover of Bob Dylan’s single “Just Like A Woman” swoons for the first half of the song, then it sounds more like a Jeff Buckley piece than a Bob Dylan original.

There have been releases of Buckley’s music from Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk, released in 1998 in posthumous two-disc studio collection and a You And I collection of early 1990’s recordings from the studio gives fans an on look into the somewhat musical career of Jeff Buckley. But the cover is more gem than rubble.

Although Buckley is from the astounded Tim Buckley, his father, Jeff has a style that is all his own. Unlike the idiom like father like son, Jeff’s music has a more dry taste like some Napa Valley wines. But You and I is going to be released this year in March. The tracklisting includes ten covers of music. Covers from other artists such as Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, and Sly & The Family Stone are also located on the post-humorous release for this year. But “Just Like A Woman” shows the stunning audacity that Jeff’s voice leaves on a tape, vinyl or CD, whose voice sounds more haunting and breathtakingly beautiful in every capable way. Jeff is still capable of making something more inciting than it should be, but that is why we love Buckley because he is amazing and those moments with his father really paid off.
