Radiohead — the band that has been together longer than this century — may be on the verge of releasing their next LP. Our clue? They formed a new company called Dawn Chorus LLP in October. It’s a certain trend the alternative rock group has started — their last album back in 2011, The King of Limbs, was released by their company, Ticker Tape Ltd., formed Dec. 2010. The album prior, In Rainbows, came out through Xurbia Xendless Ltd., which Radiohead founded in 2007. By following suit, the creation of Dawn Chorus LLP could only mean one thing.
Frontman Thom Yorke said in 2009 in an interview that he was working on a song called “Dawn Chorus,” a phrase referring to birds singing at the start of the morning, and also the title of a Boards of Canada song. The band was photographed in the studio last September, before Dawn Chorus LLP was founded, though Johnny Greenwood debunked assumptions in October that their long-anticipated LP was complete. However, he did add: “lots has been recorded, and we’re about to go through it all.”
But other times Radiohead rumors were spreading — like that the band was making the theme song for James Bond’s Spectre — the rumors turned out to be true. While Sam Smith ended up being the featured artist, Yorke made everyone’s Christmas by releasing Radiohead’s own Spectre on Soundcloud on Dec. 25.
So surely, Radiohead won’t leave us high and dry for their new LP. Right?
