Josh Tillman, a.k.a. Father John Misty, announced his North American tour in honor of his 2015 album, I Love You, Honeybear. He’ll start March 30 at the Observatory in Santa Ana, CA and end April 30 at the Beacham in Orlando, FL, then moving on to a European tour lasting until the end of May.
Though tickets officially go on sale Jan. 15, Pandora is offering a special pre-sale on Jan. 11 for their listeners, who have also been enjoying Father John Misty’s exclusive Pandora mixtape of eight acoustic tracks recorded live in London. Additionally, the mixtape includes some more sardonic messages from FJM to his fans.
A quick glance at Father John Misty’s Soundcloud will unfold some of these witty, half-minute tracks that were “rejected by Pandora.” For example, on “REJECTED FJM PANDORA PROMO 5,” Tillman announces over some funk instrumentals, “My Pandora mixtape helps me to retain some semblance of an emotional existence while I sell myself piece by wretched piece one t-shirt at a time.”
Jokes aside, Tillman made some incredible headway as Father John Misty last year with I Love You, Honeybear. The most popular track, “Chateau Lobby #4” has been played over 10 million times on Spotify alone. According to Sub Pop, the album made it on over 70 “year-end” lists, including Time Out London, Pitchfork, The Guardian, NME and Rolling Stone. Odds are, Father John Misty will sell his tickets just fine.
Tillman will appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS next Thursday, Jan. 14 — the night before tickets go on sale.
