Camden’s JC Brooks returns home for a show in our area next month! JC Brooks and The Uptown Sound will take over World Cafe Live on February 10th. The Chicago-based band has played a number of shows in our area and they always put on a highly energetic set. With his close ties to our area, it’s no surprise that they love playing this city, with JC Brooks stating, “Philly shows are pretty much hometown shows.” And dedicated fans can usually spot his family in the audience.
Their February 10th show here in Philly is the first in a brief East Coast tour, that will also make stops in DC, Brooklyn, and Akron. Though they haven’t released a new album since 2013’s “Howl,” the band doesn’t seem to have slowed down much. They are almost constantly on the road, bringing their act to new (and old) audiences.
They got their start back in 2007 after JC, aka Jason Cody, replied to a Craiglist post from guitarist Billy Bungeroth. In 2009 they released their first studio album, Beat of Our Own Drum. That album was followed by 2011’s Want More and 2013’s much-acclaimed Howl. Don’t miss them when they make their triumphant return to the Philly stage this February!
