The Thermals have a new album for the new year. The new album, We Disappear, will be available for purchase in March of this year. An LP edition of the new album is only going to be available in a limited number of 400 copies. The single “Hey You” is available for listening on all public music streaming websites. But to be clear, “Hey You” is not the cover of the song “Hey You” by Pink Floyd from The Wall album, it is entirely different.
We Disappear is the newest album by the band since their 2013 album Desperate Ground. The album concept is about the information and the sharing of private information that the band has done over the past few years. Harris mentions that the obsession of the entire band is Technology, love, death all in that order.
“Our privacy used to be so important to us and now everything has changed—we freely offer once private information about relationships and reveal everything about our day-to-day lives, said Hutch Harris in his conversation with Pitchfork, “We’re trying to preserve our life digitally so when we’re gone people won’t forget us. We’re using technology to become immortal.”
