Alan Palamo, the mastermind behind Neon Indian, paints his own personal picture of New York City after dark on his new album INTL. VEGA Night School. Themes include the usual, parties, sex, but also the darker side of New York such as urban decay and missing persons. Inspired by classic films about New York, such as King of New York and After Hours, which Palomo states being the biggest influences on his new record, we see New York through Palomo’s lens.
Personally, my favorite album of 2015 is INTL. VEGA Night School. Trying to describe the new album while doing it justice seems like an impossible task. Words cannot define the epicness of Palomo’s work. What draws me to the album is the narrative which puts clear, detailed images in my mind like a movie. Musically, Palomo’s album is fun, dancey, and 80’s inspired.
