Aside from playing a role in the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, actor Oscar Isaac recently covered Bill Murray’s version of the movie’s theme from his lounge singer sketch on 80’s era Saturday Night Live.
Isaac plays his version of nylon string acoustic, and updates some of the lyric to include themes from the new movie. The guitar playing is actually fairly impressive for somebody who doesn’t pay their bills by playing an instrument. If nothing else, it fits with the recent and understandable state of seeing everything about the smash-hit movie series all over the media and advertising.
What else has Isaac done musically? Well, he appeared in this music video a few years ago, but naturally most of his impact has been made in movies. Still, his seemingly first public foray into guitar playing could have been a lot worse, and just happens to reference a classic SNL skit, so it’s all good.
The Force Awakens is playing in theaters now, but given the twenty pieces of advertising you’ve seen everyday for the past month, you didn’t need me to tell you that.
