Actor Jack Black’s comedic rock-duo, Tenacious D just launched an auction of props and valued-memoriablia under the aid of Josh Homme’s Sweet Stuff Foundation in an effort to benefit the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris.
Available for bidding over the next two weeks, among the selected quandary of items up-for-grabs, include: fur coats from Tenacious D‘s Pick of Destiny trek, stage props: “Fenix” and the Evil Alien Squad from the band’s Rize of the Fenix tour, as well as: the entire wardrobe as seen in their “Low Hangin’ Fruit” video. The dynamic-duo are also placing the infamous silver superhero costumes they once donned during their colossal 23-minute hunger strike broadcasted on a 2003 airing of MTV’s Total Request Live.
Typically known for it’s use in order to better support musicians struggling with certain disabilities and health-related ailments, Homme’s Sweet Stuff Foundation has currently geared primary focus toward the families of the Paris attacks due to his personal involvement with the band: Eagles of Death Metal, who happened to be playing at the venue, Bataclan while these devastating acts-of-terrorism occurred. Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme not only provides the role as acting drummer on Eagles‘ records, but also help found the band with frontman, Jesse Hughes. Homme doesn’t tour with the band and wasn’t in Paris when these attacks took place.
Tenacious D revealed Josh Homme reached out to them in a statement:
“We were eager to join the cause. This is our small but heartfelt contribution.”
Since creating their first big splash on the scene via their eponymous television series in 1997, the boys of Tenacious D: actor/comedian, Jack Black and Kyle Gass have released three albums and experienced success in the live-touring circuit, playing Festival Supreme and the like.
