Björk Releases Virtual Reality App For “Stonemilker”

Earlier this year Björk shared the 360 degree virtual reality video for “Stonemilker” off the album Vulnicura. Today, she’s debuted the “Stonemilker” virtual reality app, which allows users to explore the video through a virtual reality headset.

The video could only be seen in-personm when it was exhibited in NYC and London. It became available online 3 months later.

The app is available for iOS; you can check it out on iTunes.

The video was directed by Andrew Thomas Huang. Huang also directed “Black Lake” and the moving album cover featuring “Family“. The special effects were done by Digital Domain and was produced by Vrse.works. The app was brought together by Rewind, 2 Big Ears, and Third Space Agency.

“Intimacy was the goal of this project, giving Björk the open, unrestricted stage on which to perform, and giving audiences a one-on-one experience with her through [virtual reality],” Huang told Dazed of the video. “The shoot was spontaneous, decided in a late-night conversation between me and Björk while we had VR gear with us in Iceland – the cyclical format of the 360-degrees was perfect for the circular fugue structure of ‘Stonemilker.'”

The “Stonemilker” video is posted below.
