After recently teasing new music, Ra Ra Riot has announced word of their upcoming album and tour to support the release. Need Your Light will reach eager fans on February 19th and the band’s tour will kick off at the start of March. The band will make their way down the East Coast before stopping at Union Transfer on March 5th for a their Philly show. Tickets for this one are on sale now, so be sure to head to UT’s website to grab yours.
This upcoming tour follows a small November tour that came to Philly’s Boot & Saddle. That venue is much smaller than Union Transfer, so chances are a lot of Ra Ra Riot fans weren’t able to grab tickets to that one. March is your chance to see them again when they take over Union Transfer.
If you’re curious to hear what’s in store from Ra Ra Riot, you can take a listen to their new track “Water” below. The song is a collaboration with Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanlij. This isn’t the first time Ra Ra Riot and Vampire Weekend have crossed paths. You may remember the 2009 LP from duo Discovery. Discovery is in fact Batmanlij and Ra Ra Riot’s lead vocalist Wes Miles. In discussing their new collaboration, Batmanglij wrote about the pair’s “obsession with writing songs that tell stories.” With tracks “Water” below and another from the album, “I Need Your Light,” the pair have hopefully managed to create the same magic that they did while creating the Discovery LP.
