The ever-so-wonderful work that is the music of David Bowie, knows no limits in terms of style, creativity and gloriousness, and his latest single, “Lazarus”, proves no different.
The song is one that is familiar to a side of Bowie that is slow, a bit darker, and brought into the airwaves by the singer’s smooth, romantic, and tantalizing voice. It has beautiful instrumentals and even a bit of a jazzy sound. It is the kind of Bowie track that might take you a minute or two to fully engage in, but once engaged, you are taken with the piece.
David Bowie’s latest album, and home to “Lazarus” is titled Blackstar, and according to Pitchfork will be set for release on January 8th.
David Bowie is well-known for his constant evolution regarding music, style and influence. It seems that there is no path the iconic superstar could lead himself down that would lead to anything but praise and appreciation for the artist’s ever-enduring hardwork. While remaining relevant in a world of constantly changing styles, Bowie’s latest single proves to be one that his loyal fans will appreciate, and may even become familiarized by newcombers to Bowie.
BlackStar is David Bowies twenty-fifth studio album. My ears are always open to the catalog of Bowie’s work and this latest album is sure to be no different.
