It’s time to meet David Bowie and Mick Jagger’s love child, Diane Coffee. You might be familiar with Foxygen and their flamboyant stage presence, and hopefully you are because Foxygen’s drummer Shaun Fleming, also known as Diane Coffee, embodies the band’s essence. Diane Coffee’s unique stage name is a homage Diana Ross and the Nathan Pelkey song Mr. Coffee.
Musically, Diane Coffee can be described as psychedelic Motown… sounds interesting, right? With the signature blue sparkly makeup around his eyes, Diane belts out song after song live and bounces around stage. Diane’s energy is contagious and you’ll find yourself possessed by the music and liveliness.
Diane Coffee comes from humble beginnings, recording his first album, My Friend Fish, in a bedroom with a makeshift detuned guitar as a bass and iPhone recordings of a drum set. Now he has released his second album in September of this year titled, Everybody’s A Good Dog. Recently, Diane Coffee toured with indie-pop giants Of Montreal and let me tell you, that was one of the most tremendous openers I’ve ever experienced. Don’t miss out on this intimate show!
