Chrissie Hynde, Damon Albarn And Noel Gallagher Join Forces To Perform At The 60th Birthday Of The Clash’s Paul Simonon

UK rock royalty gathered together this weekend to celebrate the 60th birthday of The Clash’s Paul Simonon. Former foes Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher teamed up with The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde to provide the musical entertainment for the evening.

As Stereogum reported, Damon and Noel didn’t always get along. The rivalry between Oasis and Blur was one of the biggest in the Britpop era. The two frontmen have come along way from hating each other to being good pals that they have reportedly wanted to work together. Hopefully this party was just the beginning of something new.

This isn’t the first supergroup to form with Paul Simonon as a member. He accompanied Paul Manzanera from Roxy Music, Tony Allen of Afrobeat, Andrea Echeverri from Aterciopelados, and Anna Phoebe from Trans-Siberian Orchestra in a performance in Italy this past summer.

The evening took place in London where the setlist consisted of songs from all three bands. The supergroup performed songs from The Good The Bad & The Queen, Gorillaz, and some of The Clash, of course.

Fan shot videos of Gorillaz‘ “DARE” and The Clash’s “Brand New Cadillac” are posted below along with the setlist and who was included in each song.
