mxdwn UK reported that Thom Yorke played some new material at a gig in Paris last week. His performance was part of the Pathway to Paris concert series, which occur in conjunction “with the The UN Climate Change Conference at Le Trianon. The gigs…aim to put pressure on the world leaders attending to agree on meaningful policies and solutions to help prevent climate change.”
“Silent Spring” was one of two new songs that Yorke played during his set, during which he commented that it would have been “Johnny [Greenwood]’s bit” – signaling to Radiohead fans that it could be a new song for the group. Greenwood had also made statements a couple months back that the band had written a lot of new material, so it is very possible that “Silent Spring” is one of those new tracks. The second new song Yorke performed was titled “Desert Island Disk” – an acoustic, almost western-sounding tune with a repeated, quick guitar riff and and isolated vocals. Check out the bare performance below:
Yorke has slowly been releasing new music this year, with rumored new songs during Japan performance and a new song, titled “Villain,” during Fashion Week.

Pitchfork reported on the surface of two additional videos from the Pathway to Paris’ YouTube channel. Both are “professionally shot compilations featuring footage from the event, including performances from Yorke, Smith, and more.” Both videos also thoroughly detail the purpose of Pathway to Paris as an avenue for artists to take action against climate change.
