Singer-songwriting ingenue, M. Ward just revealed plans for the new follow-up to 2012’s successful, A Wasteland Companion. Slated to hit stores everywhere, March 4 via Merge Records, the aptly titled: More Rain will feature Ward‘s new-cut, “Girl From Conejo Valley.”
Originally conceived as a “Do-It-Yourself” doo-wop record, More Rain follows M. Ward‘s vocal-phrasings into a multi-layered conjecture, pushing-upward through both dynamic and tempo-driven sensibilities. Careening a sonically-ambitious catechism, while thoroughly embracing the last 15-years of his life amid a perennially-damp Portland, Oregon, this folk-crooner relays the inevitability of its morose existence.
Calling to task only the greatest of collaborative-players, Ward issued the gifts of: R.E.M‘s Peter Buck, Neko Case, k.d. lang, The Secret Sisters, and Joey Spampinato of NRBQ to further propel his ever-growing artistic tendencies toward experimentation of an off-kelter persona.

“I think one of the biggest mysteries of America right now is this: How are we able to process unending bad news on Page One and then go about our lives the way the Style section portrays us?”
M. Ward continues:
“There must be a place in our brains that allows us to take a bird’s-eye view of humanity, and I think music is good at helping people – myself included – go to that place.”
