The Black Queen Announce Debut Album Fever Daydream For January 2016 Release

L.A.-based experimental supergroup, The Black Queen just unveiled the terms of a debut full-length LP, scheduled to breakthrough on January 29.

Cohering to the tastes of great things to come, these electronic-rockers first dropped the video-premiere of “The End Where We Start” back in June and followed it with the gleefully-80’s, synth-fuelled: “Ice To Never” just a few months later for good measure.

Poised to unfurl a certain amount of damage to what they consider a scene riddled by homogenized-futility, this wrecking crew, consisting of: Dillinger Escape Plan‘s lead-vocalist, Greg Puciato; part-time Nine Inch Nails and Puscifer recruit, Joshua Eustis; and former NIN, Dillinger, and Kesha-tech, Steven Alexander, there’s no shortage of seasoned-ability and prowess within the ranks.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, member, Joshua Eustis explains the band’s musical-direction:

“Originally, we had envisioned this project being something much more gauzy and probably guitar-oriented. At some point it just took a left turn and became very electronic.”

Frontman, Greg Puciato discusses the importance of their latest-and-greatest promo-video: “Maybe We Should”:

“‘Maybe We Should’ was the first song we finished that we didn’t throw out, back in January 2013. This was the one that, when we heard it, we felt we had a special combination of things. The rare instance, that you chase as an artist, of having your creation exactly match what you’re feeling.”

Puciato continues:

“It ended up sort of becoming the mascot of the whole record, a benchmark for how a song should feel to us when we finish it. When it came time to do the video, it just seemed to make sense that we would do it ourselves, and use images that were directly related to us. This video is a combination of Jesse Draxler’s process of creating the album artwork, mixed with clips of the area of downtown that we lived in while making the bulk of the record. It feels right to be releasing this song with the album announcement, and with the videoit kinda ties a lot of things together and brings a lot full circle.”

Greg Puciato details the band’s approach to collectively creating music as whole:

“The overall aesthetic to me is as important as the music. We care about every detail of everything involved, and treat every aspect as an opportunity for expression. To make everything intersect. In that way, this feels more like an art project than a band. With the record just happening to be a form. There’s a lot of freedom in that approach, as well as pride and care that develops from it. Caring and attention to detail reinforces itself.”
