Thievery Corporation is a Washington, D.C. based recording artist and DJ duo consisting of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton and their supporting artists. Their music style mixes elements of dub, acid jazz, Indian classical and Brazilian with a lounge aesthetic.
Over the years, Thievery Corporation has become known for the carnival-esque atmosphere of their live shows, during which they bring out a large live band of musicians and vocalists. “To see Lou Lou, a Persian singer singing in Farsi, as America debates on a war with Iran, on stage with band members from all corners of the earth singing in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and so on, it makes people wonder,” Garza says. “And if you can get people to question the things around them, even just a little bit, that’s not such a bad thing.”
They have been making music and touring around the world since 1995. They haven’t, however, made any new music since their 2014 release of “Saudade”. They will be in Austin at Emos on 12/31. Come out and enjoy, its going to be a great show!
