SPIN reported earlier today that Sinead O’Connor posted what could have been a suicide note to her Facebook page. Though updates from Irish police and news sources say that O’Connor is “safe and sound,” the Facebook post is still up.
Part of the post read: “The last two nights finished me off. I have taken an overdose. There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I’m at a hotel, somewhere in ireland, under another name.” She also wrote that her family would not even know or care if she were to die, and that the only way they would find out was from reading her letter.
O’Connor has apparently been feuding with members of her family for quite some time; SPIN stated in specific regards to today’s post that “Over the past 24 hours O’Connor posted several upsetting posts to her fall detailing her dispute with singer Donal Lunny, the father of her youngest son, Shane. O’Connor alleges that Shane requires psychological treatment, but Lunny won’t allow her to see him.” She also wrote that several other members of her family and inner circle have disrespected her in the last week and that she’s felt alone since a surgery in August.
Billboard announced that the singer had been found and was receiving medical treatment after an alleged overdose in her hotel room in Ireland. However, a representative for O’Connor had no comment when contacted. Read the concerning Facebook post in full below:
