Last month in Melbourne, Australia, four artists got together to play a special tribute concert to Patti Smith’s iconic album, Horses, turning 40 years old this year. Jen Cloher, Magic Dirt’s Adalita, The Drones’ Gareth Liddiard, and Courtney Barnett took part in the special event. Each artist was given two of the album’s eight tracks to perform.
Courtney Barnett brilliantly covered “Redondo Beach” and “Break It Up”.
Barnett is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Melbourne. She released her debut album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometime I Just Sit on March 23, 2015 where it received praise from a widespread audience. Impressively, Barnett established her own label, Milk! Records, through which the Patti Smith tribute concert was recorded and released.
