Ariel Pink has released his latest musical contribution, “Hall of Screams”.
The contributory song belong to the soundtrack for Heaven Knows What, a film by Josh and Benny Safide. According to Stereogum, “Hall of Screams”, is to be paired with the digital single for “I Need a Minute” which was Pink’s contribution in the film’s soundtrack. When the digital release of “I Need a Minute” breathes life, it will be paired with the new “Hall of Screams”.
This is what Ariel Pink had to say on the subject of contributing to the film:
“In a stucco tile peeling off the corner – short circuit neon flickers on a cracked mirror over a scuzzy fossitwith pubic hairs encrusted in heaven’s Mcdonald’s… The ecstasy of a locked door. The moments of personal bliss away from the noise of the wretched streets. red bull logo – it’s serenity. synthetic artificial candy opiated bliss. cough drop. Christmas eve temporary relief – warmth found in the bosom of a bathroom of a department store (via Stereogum).”
With a dark and ominous intro, it is extremely reminiscent to the intro on Marilyn Manson’s, Portrait of an American Family. With sounds that go bump in the night and a seriously slow but enchanting beginning, “Hall of Screams” is going to take you on a ride. The only question is where to? With hints of David Lynch’s Lost Highway soundtrack, mixed with the unique and somewhat out-of-place- sounds that show themselves on that soundtrack, “Hall of Screams”, definitely delivers a spooky instrumental journey.
The instrumental piece takes listeners on a “fun-house” like adventure.
