Upset is a Los Angeles band that is composed of Ali Koehler, Patty Schemel, Rachel Gagliardi and Lauren Freeman. Recently the band shared a video for their single “Away.” The single is from their newest EP, ’76, available now on Lauren Records. The entire album was recorded at Todd Congelliere’s Clown Sound studio in San Pedro.
Despite the band’s successful She’s Gone album that was released two years ago. The video for “Away” is reminiscent of innocent times traveling from home and journeying outside the four walls. The song is very much home-like in the aspect of the entire album discussing fresh starts, nostalgia and friendship. The song is all about restlessness and misery, how the girls are trying to adapt to living in a big city and missing all the comforts of old friends and memories of home. The video is much like a story between being a big musician and then coming home to pets and loved ones at the end of the day. It is almost as if it is a home movie to the ethos of the female band. The entire video is about the tour with Upset and Colleen Green, who also makes some cameos in the video herself, as well as members of Tacocat and Chastity Belt. The video is all about the journey and not the glory of being a musician, so it is no wonder you get to see all the cute bits about coming home to someone who truly loves you, like the spoiled dog giving a handshake to one of the members. The again, does it ever feel like you’re home?
