Emily Wells Announces Album Promise For January 2016 Release And Winter 2016 Tour Dates

American vocalist and instrumentalist Emily Wells has announced the release of her upcoming album, Promise, which will be out on January 29 via Thesis and Instinct. This will be Wells’ first release since Mama in 2012 and it’s subsequent acoustic release in 2013.

Wells premiered the first single off Promise, titled “You Dream of China,” through Brooklyn Vegan on SoundCloud:

Brooklyn Vegan also reported on Emily’s description of how she came to write the song. She said:

This was one of the last songs I wrote for the album after returning from a bizzare/life altering trip to Beijing and Ordos (a “ghost town” google it!) in Inner Mongolia where I naively went to play a festival that ended in a monsoon and a nearly apocalyptic new world view on the fate of the planet. I kept dreaming of it after I left, not just the place but the history I had a sudden voracious curiosity for. Being there was a mirror for all of my own want and carelessness and disposable way of life. I wanted to stop wanting so much.

The singer also announced a list tour dates following the album’s release, which begin in February in Washington, DC and include shows across the U.S. through March. A full list of tour dates is below, as well as ticketing links.
