On February 22, 2016 at Carnegie Hall, celebrating 26 years, the Tibet House US Benefit will take place. All proceeds from the ticket sales go to Tibet House US, which is a non-profit institution that seeks to preserve and educate people on the cultural traditions of the Tibetan culture. The benefit’s inital lineup has been announced including artists like FKA Twigs, Iggy Pop, Philip Glass, Sharon Jones, Basia Bulat, and Dechen Shak-Dagsay with Helge van Dyk.
Many of the Tibet House US Benefit bands are returning artists to perform again this year. The FKA Twigs have recently covered Sia’s “Elastic Heart” but more importantly released a surprise album and a complementary short film. In August, Iggy Pop announced a tribute show where the band will play with artists from other bands like Pearl Jam, Guns n Roses, Mad Season, and Mudhoney.
The Tibet House US Benefit concert is a one-of-a-kind cultural and musical tradition. It has gathered some of the most legendary and iconic names in music. Last year’s sold-out event was led by some of music’s most recognized female artists including Debbie Harry, Patti Smith and Laurie Anderson and a surprise appearance by Miley Cyrus. Dozens of globally-known artists have performed in the past, from David Bowie, Paul Simon and Lou Reed, to The Roots, Jim James and The Flaming Lips.
UPDATE (02/03/16): Gogol Bordello has been added to the lineup for February 22, 2016.
