TEEN have released a new song, “All About Us”, the lead single to their new album Love Yes.
The fast-paced retro song sets the vibe for their new record. Vocalist Teeny Liberson explained the track to Noisey:
“All About Us” is a song about the underplayed, quiet misogyny that women experience too often. The theme explores a situation that I have dealt with many times; if sexism is not in your face, and one isn’t saying it outright, then it couldn’t possibly be happening. If I then react, it is incredibly easy to be dismissed as a silly, overreactive women. The song evaluates this exact power play, and in turn makes fun of the perpetrator; because quite frankly, it’s insane that still is happening in this day and age.
While their debut album, In Limbo, marked the sound for the rest of their work, the band started a kickstart program to fund their next album, Carolina, in 2013. The EP was successfully released with recordings taking place in the most unthinkable places including someones living room. Carolina delivered in places where it lacked otherwise. With the release of their first single, I doubt TEEN will be needing a kickstart program to fund Love Yes.
