Danish rock band New Politics will be performing at the El Rey Theatre on December 8. The band’s third album “Vikings” was released in August this year and is their first to be out on Warner Bros. Records.
The band got their start participating in the Danish National Radio P3’s Karriere Kanonen (“Career Cannon”) competition and of the 973 bands that entered, New Politics was one of 42 selected to perform—despite not yet being an official band, and not having selected the final line-up. The new trio was among the top four winners and went on to play in a major music festival in Denmark.
David Boyd said the process of creating music came naturally to the band.
“It wasn’t like anyone was expecting anything from us,” recalls David. “We would just go into the back of the bus and create songs. It came so naturally and fast that it was a blast. It took us back to when we were originally writing as kids. Back before we had no label or management or anything. It was simple.”
