Claire Boucher, known to most by her stage name, Grimes, is a jack-of-all-trades in the music industry. She leaves nothing untouched when it comes to making her live performances spontaneous, fun, and something to talk about. This Wednesday, that spontaneity included a surprise guest appearance from fellow artist, Janelle Monáe.
While promoting her fourth album, Art Angels, during her Rhinestone Cowgirls Tour, the synth pop-princess gave the audience a special treat during a show in Atlanta when she invited fellow musician, Janelle Monáe onstage for an energy-filled, pumped-up performance of their collaborative LP track “Venus Fly”.
The performance was attention-grabbing and fueled by the song’s sassy lyrics, bright lighting, heavy bass, and dancing. The audience went wild for the two ladies who would light up the stage (literally) and give the audience one hell of a surprise performance.
“Venus Fly” is the 12th track off of Art Angels and holds true to Grimes’ poppy, yet funky and quirky style.
Monáe has two upcoming tour dates in Houston, TX on December 19th and 20th at Silver Street Studio.
Grimes is set to continue her Rhinestone Cowgirls Tour with a show in Washington, D.C. tomorrow.
