Sia has released a new video for “Alive“, the first single off her new album, This Is Acting. The video vaguely resembles the one she made for “Chandelier.”
The video consists of a young bewigged child performing a martial arts routine in an abandoned warehouse. According to Huffington Post, the young star is 9-year-old Mahiro Takano. Sia reportedly got in touch with Takano after seeing her videos on YouTube. Takano is not the first skilled child to make it into Sia’s videos. Maddie Ziegler, who first appeared on Dance Moms, got her big break in Sia’s “Chandelier” video. She then went on to appear in “Elastic Heart” and “Big Girls Cry”. Ziegler recently appeared on Pretty Little Liars in a guest-starring dance spot. Hopefully this is just the beginning for Takano and we will be seeing as much of her as Ziegler.
The single was co-written by Sia, Adele, and Tobias Jesso Jr., it was originally supposed to be on Adele’s next album, 25. Adele who is on the current cover issue of Rolling Stone, commented on working with Sia, saying, “I actually love the dynamic of us both being in there and just fucking being bossy, and it’s all these male producers, and they’re all fucking shitting themselves ’cause we’re in there.”
Sia’s album, This Is Acting, is due out on January 29.
