DIIV has announced the album, Is the Is Are, to be released in February of next year. The album will have 17 songs on the track listing including a song sun by both DIIV and Sky Ferreira, “Blue Boredom.” The newest single from the album, “Dopamine” has been previously released.
To advance the sales of the newest LP, DIIV will also release the single “Bent (Roi’s Song),” which follows the “Dopamine” single in the same languid and dreamy like stage. The new album is the predecessor of Oshin, that was released in 2012. Even though the band said that the new album is much darker in sound, the songs keep to the rhythmic creations that the band has previously shared in their first album, Oshin. But what is iconic about the previously shared single “Bent (Roi’s Song)” is that the singer cannot disconnect himself from one person in his own head. The song may sound more like a tribute to two people, but these two people could be almost one in the same when it comes to shared ideas or even shared minds. The new album coincides with the doubting issues of change, be it the person or the one it has influenced. But on a personal note, “Bent (Roi’s Song)” is also about the singer’s contemplation with clarity, sanity, and sobriety struggles. This song and its followers are catalyst into the new sounds and creations that still linger from Oshin, and it is those struggles and melancholic states that keep the album stuck in a neutral border.
