Soldiers of Fortune will release their new album Early Risers, this Friday, November 6. The album features guest appearances from Stephen Malkmus, Cass McCombs, Dan Melchoir and more.
The band currently includes Brad Truax, Matt Sweeney, Jesper Eklow, Barry London and guitarist/producer Mike Bones. Malkmuss and McCombs’ contributions have been released and can be heard below.
Both songs are different and contribute in different ways. “Campus Swagger” sounds like a garage band that was experimenting after school and ended up creating something really good. Basically a modern day Ramones sound if you will. While “Old Roman Wall” sounds very Pink Floyd influenced. The Cass McCombs collaboration is very slowed down and thought out in terms of sound and lyrics. Both songs leave you waiting for the rest of the album.
Soldiers of Fortune will be celebrating the release of Early Riders with a free show in NYC at Max Fish on Wednesday via Brooklyn Vegan.
