Brooklyn hip hop group Digable Planets announced a highly anticipated reunion show in Seattle.
The trio consists of Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler, Mary Ann “Ladybug Mecca” Vieira and Craig “Doodlebug” Irving. Digable Planets has been inactive as a musical trio since 1995, although have been on various reunion tours from 2005-2011.
Venturing into genres such as jazz rap and alternative hip hop, Digable Planets is definitely an adventurous group when it comes to the wide expanse of styles they cover in their material. It surely creates for a unique sound, one that highlighted their popularity as well as the desire for a reunion show.
Their second album Blowout Comb was notable for its various political imagery and hidden meanings, however soon after its release in 1995 the band disbanded due to creative differences.
